I went back to see the surgeon today and I have torn the sutures under my left arm where he had tried to repair a huge hole left from previous lymph node removal.

So it looks like surgery number 10 coming up, in a few months, after this lot has healed completely.

He can't do anything now as the risk of getting an infection and losing the implant is far too great, especially with my history.

OK, I hear you all. I know I was so stupid!!!!!

But I had no pain for the first time in 15 months and I had felt so good.

Believe me, I haven't stopped kicking myself for my stupidity and I swear I am not doing anything to damage the other side and NEXT TIME I'm going to become a couch potato for THREE months until I know the sutures have healed!!!!

Hugs and roses to you all, Meganne

Oh Meganne, what a disappointment! Another operation, that's a hard way to learn to take it easy!
I hope you only use your right arm to move a mouse or lift a glass of something nice!!

Hugs and bunches of roses, Martine

Oh Meganne, this is soo unfortunate! I can imagine how you blame yourself! I also never stop beating myself over the head if I had done something I think I shouldn't...Hoping for a speedy, full recovery with no pain and that #10 will be the FINAL and very successful one!

I feel badly for you...don't kick yourself to hard. Probably about 95% of us would have overdone things also...it's hard not to when you feel "normal" or "healed". Hugs back at you Meganne! ~Rita

Oh, Meg, I'm so sorry to hear that! And I just wrote I worry about you in last night PM...if I lived nearby, I would never let you move a single muscle! You are in my thoughts and prayers. I love you, Yoriko

Sometimes the only way to learn these things is by experience. I'm so sorry for your pain and additional surgery, but this too will pass. My prayers are with you for a full recovery and relief from pain.
Like Yoriko, I expect that we all wish we lived nearby to give you a hug. Don't blame yourself for this, as we cannot undo the past, only make improvements in the future.
God bless you!
Love,
Jacqueline

I've been there. When you finally feel good you just don't realize the damage/harm you can do to yourself. There really is a reason the doctors say "Don't do" whatever for however long. I feel for you big time. Hang in there and remember this lesson. It happened for a reason and I'm sure there is someone out there that you are supposed to pass it on to.
Hugs and rosses right back at ya!

So sorry to hear Meganne that you are having complications. It's only human to want to be able to do things that we have put off for so long once we start to feel a bit better. Allow yourself the time to heal properly even though you feel well enough to do things. Please remember to take care of YOU! You are worth it :)

Hi Meganne, so sorry to hear your news. I expect that you are in the same situation as many others. It is very difficult to do nothing at all. Many years ago I fell 20 feet heavily on to my back and caused problems. The thought of lying about doing nothing for ages and ages if not longer was awful but in life all often works out well in the long run. So good luck and do take care, there are loads of us from aroud the world to keep a virtual eye on you and will keep nagging you to take care

Well, I have done the same thing before. It doesn't help to beat yourself up.....you learned a valuable lesson and maybe this happened to prevent something worse. This is what you should do for a while.....

Oh I do so need to see something funny, as I sit with sad heart over my daughter who is not pleasing me or herself at the moment... just a little utrmoil in our life. Why do young ones not see the big picture untill it is too late...

I mean turmoil, cannot even think straight.
by meganne 31 Mar 2010
Oh Kez, I do hope it isn't too serious.
I'm afraid the young ones these days are just not the same as we were at their age.

oh dear , stop kicking yourself, you've learnt the hard way. So just try to be patient and give yourself time to recover.I dont think it was astupid reaction, I suppose most of us would do it. but one thing is sure; you will not do so anymore. But if you want to get your mind of things here's another challenge for you.(drive out the yellow car=see link)

Meg I'm so sorry but sometimes we make mistakes. You need not browbeat yourself. You didn't know & I know what it's like to suddenly have a day when you feel fantastic. You think u can lick the world. Time will heal & you will feel that way again. I know patience is hard to come by(that's something I lack) but it is going to take that to let yourself get completely well. Lillian

You have been just wonderful through all of this and You should not be upset with yourself over a very common mistake. You were only trying to get your life back to normal and enjoy the things that you could enjoy. Just take it a bit more easy than you have been doing and we will all pray for you to heal even as it is now. I am sure you have some great Drs. but only you and the Lord have control over your healing. Now that you realize what can happen, I am sure that you will go out of your way to take it easy. The Lord has not brought you this far just to see you have more problems than you can handle. We certainly do not think you were stupid! It is very easy and natural for you to want to do all the things that you have not felt doing for so long. Please stay on the positive side and just take care of yourself now. May the Lord bless you and keep you in his loving hands. Hugs, Linda

Oh, Sweetie - it is hard to hear what you have had to go through. Our best friend's daughter was dianosed with BC recently and is now going through the Chemo. But, you are a fighter and we know that you can do it. Just take care, OK?

Chemo is the pits, but tell her the reward at the end is worth it.
To join the Survivors Club and be able to count off each year of membership.
That sure is one heck of a great feeling!!!

Please Please Please -- do NOT become a couch potato -- you will lose all your strength and then REALLY be a vegetable. I believed everyone that said don't lift anything heavier than a teacup for the 6 weeks after my hyst. -- and now I *can't* lift anything heavier than a teacup (ok, so my coffee mug is slightly heavier...)
