Hi cuties I cannot belive what I did yesterday........ I thought I would make my 1st tissue box cover !!!

I chose lovely silk fabric & padding.... stitched out the 4 sides first as you meant to ........ then I stitched out the top with the hole in it ...... then thought "where is the bottom peice" ...... oh well I will stitch out the top peice again but not the hole ...... !!!!!
Then I sewn all peices together like you do ......
Feeling really excited now...... got my box of tissues ready.....OH NO ...... how do I get the box in ??????? I could not belive it .... the dammn box does not have a bottom peice !!!!! LOL LOL my friend came round & laughed so much she almost wet herself LOL Lesson number 1 learnt !!!! Today I am going to try again but without the peice at the bottom!!!!!!
Have any Cuties ever made such a simple yet dumb mistake as this ??? if so please share & maybe I won'tfeel sooooo DUMB!!!!!
Look foward to hearing from you xxxx HUGS xxxx Karma

Thank you for the great laugh, and yes I am sure there are many of us who have made such boo boos but not sure if we'd be brave enough to admit to them.
:-)))
Hugs and roses for sharing, Meganne

Don't kick yourself about it. I once made a dress and put two left sides as the back, didn't notice until I had sew the sides all the way thru. It happens to the best of us. LOL Cloey

My goodness, do not feel too dumb. I think we Cuties has such a lot on our minds, that we sometimes get a blockout of brain signals. (The signals gets a bit smashed from having to think too much)LOL. I do not think there is one of us that have not made such boo, boo's, I am one for sure.!!!!!!!

Hey...it's not a tissue box! It's a treasure box for you to keep your very special little trinkets in!! Believe me in the 40+ years I've been sewing I've done some doozies. I have a small pile of them in the basement that I keep saying I'm going to fix. Hubby just laughs everytime he see the pile. Onward and upward..you won't make that mistake again!!!

I think it would make a great, elegant Piggy Bank.

And yes, I made a Boo Boo recently. I stitched a cute little 'basket' that I had in my FSL folder. As it stitched, I thought how sweet it looked. Then when I dissolved the WSS the whole thing became a tangled mess. Turns out it was to be stitched on organza.

Oh yes, have made similar mistakes for sure. Then I begin ripping things apart while I'm calling myself names. The good thing is that I hope I learn from my mistakes but sometimes months later I begin to do the same thing and fortunately stop myself partway through and say, wait, that's what I did last time. LOL I chalk it up to getting old and having so much stuff packed into my head that some of it gets a little mixed up now and then. LOL Thanks for sharing.

Karma, Thanks for the laugh. Well you could take the tissues out the box and place it in your holder.

I was doing a design yesterday and had to turn it upside down,to stitch out. I did not turn it all the way around so the whole of the first colour was at an angle.

Thanks to "Fleabag" Fiona who was visiting yesterday , started to unpick it for me.
Well I sat the whole night unpicking while the other designs were stitching. Only went to bed at 2.30 this morning.

Hugs Yvonne

You aren't alone. We have all done something dumb. I made a some beautiful FSL. At least I thought it was FSL until I washed it out and everything was in the bottom of the bowl. Another sleepless night of embroidery to fix that mess!

The question is not have we made 'a' mistake. I am not sure I can count high enough to cover all the mistakes I have made over the 5 decades of sewing. It is better to laugh and carry on to a beautiful finished product. Enjoy the tissue box.

Fill it with uncooked rice or beans. Then add some artificial flowers on top and you will have a delightful "planter". Ask me how I know this. LOL
One thing is for sure; it's not a mistake we're going to make again. Happy stitching. ***

Among other mistakes this was the funniest, I was stitching a shirt for a friend for a Christmas present, I was being so careful, I got all the parts together and started to stitch, when I was finished I proudly displayed my handy work to my kids. One of them said "Mom, why did you put SOCCER MOM with Hockey sticks" I had to rip out the SOCCER and put in HOCKEY. Won't make that mistake again. :)

That is funny. As I was reading my mind was saying, "Oh no don't do that" like I was watching a car wreck but couldn't do anything about it. But it's so easy to see after the fact isn't it? Yes, we've all made mistakes. Right now I'm worried I won't do that as I re-do my kitchen :o

LOL and then some I am falling off my chair !! O yes I have done some doozies. I made a quilt recently and sure enough I was almost done with the top when I had a design in the center backwards. Ok took it all out and put it back together, Guess what it now was sideways. O yes took apart again put back together yes for the third time I now had my seam on the front side. I love my ripper finally on the fourth time I got it right. Well I love all the stories.!!!!!!!!!!!
