I have a friend who bought around a shirt that he wants a name put on it. I have never embroidered on anything as soft and fine as this shirt, i put a pin into the shirt where he wanted the name and when i took the pin out there were two holes which could "scratch" out but gave me reason for concern.
Any help would be great, but i am thinking or telling him to take it to a dry-cleaners/embroidery shop to get it done.

I have done a bunch of microfiber towels. Be sure to use a water soluble tear away topping as you would use with any towel and you will be fine. Good luck!!

Thank you katydid, these shirts are very fine material as fine as silk, I told him they are way to fine for me to do. He drives an airport shuttle bus and i told him this shirt will make him sweat too much, Me and my big mouth, now he has asked can i find him some shirts as well as embroider them. Lucky he is a good friend.

I also would love to know the answer to this. I wonder if a couple of layers of tear away stabilizer would help. Any chance he would buy a second shirt for you to experiment on?

Is it a knit or woven fabric? I would use an iron on cutaway stabilizer and a ballpoint needle just in case.

I've never stitched on a microfiber shirt, but I would treat it like silk and also use a ballpoint needle as maryjo suggested. Floriani has a nice reference guide for stabilizer. You don't need to use their product, although they are very good.

Hi Cuties, I've embroided several baby blanket that are microfiber. They stitched out beautifully! I hooped the blankets, no hoop burn....just beautiful.<br />Good Luck! For the top I used WSS and on the bottom, tear away...
