I just noticed in the project section that people are making something called a hug napkin (with loops all around a square of towelling) - what is this?

It's like a security blanket for a baby. They love to rub their fingers across the loops of fabric or ribbon. I have never heard of it being called a hug napkin though.

Thanks bevintex for telling me what a hug napkin is - perhaps that is a European term. Just hope big is this hug napking and loops - is there a pattern somewhere? I am assuming there is a two pieces of towel where the ends of the ribbon are hidden which make the loops or is there some other fabic on the back side of the hug napkin?

I made several of these for my GDs. Didn't have a pattern so I just made them about 12 inches square when finished.

See you got your answer from Bev (among others). Babies like the little tags and silky texture of satin ribbons.
