The one I have does not catch the stitches until 1/2 way around and it leaves a big knot at the start than can make a hole in the fabric. Thanks to anyone who can help.

You might want to check some of the Yahoo groups you belong to. Most of them have basting stitches. My machine has a built-in basting stitch. Maybe yours does too.

Thanks for the tip. My machine does not. I don't yet belong to any Yahoo groups but maybe I should look around.

My machine has pretty frames built in and I can use the plain one for basting.

The Singer Sewing Machine Site has Several on their Freebie Page. I don't have the link handy but you can do a Google Search. Hope this helps and a flower for you.

I really appreciate your offer - let me try the ones the cuties have so kindly shared before I trouble you.

Here is a posting I made with a few more places for basting stitches. It's nice to have a selection!

Thanks so much I did not see yours before I posted mine. I now have a number of them to test to see which one my machine likes the best!
