This is what I am talking about it is on a roll pulls out of the real to measure then it rolls back up you pull it out and cut the length you want ,be sure to push lock down so it will not real back in the reel or you will have to take the real apart to get it out as I just did .I buy this at the dollar tree it is a 16 foot tape . after you cut the amount you need round off the ends with a old sissors in sert it into the casing at the top of the bag one peace on each side with the numbers facif to the out side of the bag if you want the fastner to be stronger just use 2 peices of the tape to gether. one peice is not really strong un less you go to the Lowes store and buy a expensive tape they are wider and stronger.and are 50 to a 100 foot long I just buy the cheap one s at the dollor tree and use two peices..

OK - at first that is what I thought you meant - then I just wasn't sure - so you put the Carpenter's tape measure in the casing and stitch it up? This makes the casing stronger at the top and do you put any sort of magnet in it or anything?

No Shirlene you make the casing and you put a strip into each side .so it is sepreated and when you open it and turn it loose it will snap back closed.

I see I thought correctly when you mentioned carpenters tape. I have a couple of shorter ones (about 7 ft), that were given as promotion items, but the long sides are slightly rounded outwards along both sides. I am afraid that would be uncomfortable if the numbers faced outside. I love the idea!

You have to put it in numbers to the sout sife if you don't it does not snap open well and snap back you will never know it is like that as you can see you can not tell it in my bags.
