moved into a different folder so I can get organized. Like I want to put all Christmas ones in a folder labeled Christmas. Right now all designs are in the main folder so I have to go through all of them to find one specific design folder. Hope I am not confusing you as much as I confuse myself.

THe way I do it is I create a new folder name it, then I open the old folder drag the designs I want into my new folder. Hope I was clear.

It won't let me do that, if I open a new folder it takes away the main folder. If I move a design to the side of the box like I was going to load it up to the card writer it still stays in the main folder. I can't bring up more than one folder at a time and can't drag them at all. I know I am confusing you so think how much I have confused myself, lol! I need a cutie friend in NE Ohio!

Debra, don't do it in your ped basic program - do it in WINDOWS - go to your START button - right click on it - arrow to OPEN or EXPLORE (whichever you know how to navigate) - then do it again - go to your START button - right click on it - arrow to OPEN or EXPLORE.
Now you will have two windows open - one that you will CLICK on your Files that you want to COPY - one that you will be dragging or dropping them into FOLDERS.
Does this make sense to you?
If you have a FILE that you want to go into a new FOLDER - you have to CREATE that FOLDER first - before you copy or drag the COPY into it, also

Thanks shirlen, you helped me last time by giving me the very basic style way of doing things, so far I have 2 windows open, all the ped files are on one and the other I started files for Christmas and Easter so far. The test will be at the end when I see what my ped-basic looks like, lol!
OK, when I close these windows is everything on my ped-basic going to be in the order of the folders I am making? I am just getting a bad feeling that everything will be gone, lol!

As I said before create a new folder (name it whatever you want) on your desktop open that folder
after you open it you can create several folders inside (sub floders)
name one Holidays & Celebrations
OPEN holidays & celebrations
and create files accordingly 4th of July, Christmas, Birthdays, Anniversary, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.
NOW go to pedbasic and Right click on your designs you want to organize Select Copy
then go to your embroidery folder and RIGHT click choose Paste the designs into whatever file/folder you want.

It's making sense now that shirlener88 explained the start and open, etc. I am truly lost on the computer, lol!
To make a new folder on desktop just right click on your desktop screen and a window will open scroll to NEW and another window will open Choose Folder name it and then you have the beginnings then just follow the steps I said above
Everything will still be in your pedbasic because you are copying and pasting NOT dragging and dropping
ok, this won't put the ped basic ones in the order I am putting them now? Guess what, I close one of the 2 folders and now I can't find it again, LOL! I am a disaster! Plus, I don't know how to put them on my card writer other than from the ped basic so I won't be making this any easier by doing this. 56 years old and all I can do it email, lol....sad

ha ha, idiot that I am finally found the other folder but is it going to make a difference for moving my files? I wanted to organize my ped-basic files to make it easier when I want to put designs on my card writer? I am going outside and dig in the dirt, maybe it will calm my frayed nerves.
