I just bought a kilo of US cherries for $9.99 (AUD) & I was wondering how much they were in the USA where they are in season ? When they are in season here they are about $5 -$8 a kilo.

I haven't gotten to come to any of these sections (tabs) in a while, and I couldn't resist this question!
Cherries are grown commercially in large quantities in this area. That is not a bad price. It is on the high end, but I have seen them a little higher than that. Right now, I saw them on sale in the grocery store fliers. They range in prices from 1.50 to 3 USD per LB. In Kilos the price range would be from $3.30 to $6.6 USD per Kilo.
Using my computer's currency conversion widget, it would be equivalent to 3.87 to 7.75 in Australian Dollars.
The prices I quoted, are for the Bing Cherries (I haven't seen Rainier Cherries yet, but they are usually higher). I have paid a lot less for them when I place large orders with a group of friends. I have paid as little as .50 cents per lb in the past two years.

every year when the cherries are ripe I have to giggle and remember. Many years ago I was sitting in my recliner 9 months pregnant chomping on cherries. Whoosh - my water broke and off to the hospital go I and they couldn't give me anything because I had a belly full of raw fruit! So I had my little boy 'au natural' (OUCH) but love him bunches and eat cherries every June 18 for giggles....

Cute story now but I bet it was not so cute when the pains began back then. All I wanted to eat when I was pregnant was apples and tossed salad. I do enjoy an apple once in a while now (43 yrs later) But have never enjoyed them as much since then, same with a salad. I would stop at the 7-11 store across the st. from where I worked and get 3 huge apples for $1.00 every morning on my way to work. That is even a joke now $$$$$$$$. I did not gain but 26 lbs during my 9 months and lost all but 4 lbs before I got out of the hospital. That, also is a joke now!###### I should live in Fl. now because I could live off of Red Grapefruit.
If only all pregnant women had only cravings for fruit there would be not many worries about losing weight after childbirth

You are very lucky. Cherries are my favourite fruit. At the moment here in South Africa (winter) they are the equivalent to $13 a kilo!!!

In USA (Florida) the price has been $1.99 US dollar per pound. They were higher, but as the supply increases the price will come down. they have been plentiful and very good too.

Where I live, in Florida, Bing Cherries are on sale for $2.99/lb, and Ranier cherries are $6.99.lb - we love these, but sure have to watch the budget. Even areas in Florida are less expensive than where I live.

They are $1.99 here in Canada .I pick my own in a place called Collingwood(were i grew up) a large pail is 5 dollars Carolyn

In Australia the grocers at the markets do an auction for the very 1st box of cherries of the season. Whatever the amount (which is in the thousands of dollars) is donated to charity, I think the $$$ raised go to different charities... not sure on that one, just know you wouldn't want to buy THAT particular box unless you had heaps of money to give away.
It's usually on the TV news when it happens & how much the box went for... I think it's a great idea.

Bought some cherries on Friday but they were not really nice but I hope the cherries improve as the season gets going
