Can I regular sew out a design that says it is "mylar"? Or must it be sew with mylar?

Yes, you can, but you'll miss the glitter.

I am glad you asked the question because I was wondering the same thing. I am living in an area where they do not do machine embroidery so mylar is not going to be easy for me to get. However, I can get glittery organza. I can try that.

Do you have any craft shops nearby? The mylar was actually used as a gift basket wrap! Comes on a roll.

I do table nets sometimes, and I am going to try the Mylar patterns on one of them to see, whether it would not look nice on the net. I seem to think that net is finer, and so is the Mylar designs.
Will give feedback later.

Yes, but it is an open stich to see the glitter so you will see through it. By the way i think you can use organza but it is not a very strong glitter. Yvonne
