July 2, 2010 - Good morning everyone! May I ask a question? I'm creating a mylar alphabet and wanted to know if this looks right?

I'm not quite sure how to digitize this, so I hope you all can lend me some input???? Would this be something you'd like to see uploaded to Designs by Cutie? Full set of course.

Would anyone like to test this before I continue with the remaining letters?

Thanks!
teri

Looks lovely Teri. Alas, I've no mylar to test it.

This is a beautiful alphabet! Love it! Will you be able to do ART formats? I'll be out 'til early afternoon. I could do a test for you if you don't find someone else first.

I don't have mylar, but will that make a difference?
by joellen03 02 Jul 2010
This looks great but may I ask what is mylar?
by simplyrosie 02 Jul 2010
Thanks girls... I do need someone with mylar. I will also test the alphabet when I can find a free moment! Am I the only one with a hectic schedule? Each day I feel more tired than the day before. LOL

Teri, this looks good to me but I'm not a digitizer. If you want me to do a test, I just received some Mylar and can try it with that. My format is VIP, PES< HUS, i can use several on my machine Pfaff. You can send a PM if you want me to do it for you.
Thanks for the effort. Carla

Would someone be able to convert these files to art format when I upload them? I'd like to include those files for our CUTIES that cannot convert (that's if you all are interested anyway... I don't want to do a complete alphabet if no one will use it, you know?) :-) teri

I have Wilcom Truesizer and Pulse Ambassador and I don't see a conversion to ART on either one. Sorry.

Bernina machines also take EXP format.

I love it Teri, but I have done no mylar & do not have any so wouldn't be able to test for you. *

I have not done any Mylar. In fact, I do not understand using a type of paper to embroidery over. I would think that washing and drying would deteriorate the design in a hurry. I do not have or have ever seen the Mylar so I am open to anything until I actually understand what Mylar is made out of and how well it will stand up under normal wash and wear. Since I no longer do very much embroidery except for family I am out of the loop when it comes to this. I do love the look of the alpha! Good luck Teri! You do great work!

I used irridescent mylar film in a test. I washed it in normal warm cycle, dried in dryer, then pressed with iron the back side. It turned out great with no problems at all. Don't use mylar from balloons. Color runs and it peels off.

Very pretty. I am looking forward to it in DBC. I have no access to mylar here in North Dakota, but would try it with glittery organza or netting.

Teri - that looks great, and I think it would be a great addition to DBC. I still have not tried Mylar, mainly because I still am not comfortable about how it would wash.

Looks good to me! Put that A up & ask us to all test it & let you know! You'll have more results than you need & from different machines! I went out last night to find Mylar..and couldn't! But I haven't gone to AC Moore or Michael's yet!!
