Dolly, I do understand exactly what you mean - I am not sure it is a timer - but it is the machine - having a tantum because you have left the room - somewhat like when you have children - they will be just fine - if you sit and watch them play - but get up and walk out of the room or answer the phone and they want you right there with them and nothing but sitting there watching them - will be good enough for them - Hehehe!

I think all of our machines are in communication. My will often be happily stitching away until I leave. Then I come back to a message to check the threading or bobbin when I get back. But gotta love them. They are our babies whether they are behaving or not.

I'm afraid to leave the room when the machine is running so I don'r recognize the way you post.

Mine Works the same way. I thank it is in the computer screne on the machine. It can see if I am still sitting there. HeHe!!

I call them the (Ghosts Sewing Beasts With Watch or Clock)

Mine will jam or eat the fabric as if to say see what I can do when you leave me I think it is domaniting wants all my atten.

Murphy's Law... :-) I have the same problem with my machine. lol

They just want to let us know who is in charge. Sensor in the machine says "Ok, to mess up. Operator not watching"

Ha ha... At least yours waits til you leave the room. My does it if I turn my head to look at the computer beside me.... hehehe.... must be jealous...LOL

Lol I have the same problem with my kid. He'll be working hard at cleaning his room...the min I leave... He's like your machine and quits working... :0)

Little late in reading!!! I know what you mean. When I first started embroidery I actually used one of those intercom things like we used for listening for babies to keep a check on the machine. I was a bit paranoid! I got over that! However, I still do not venture to far for long.
