For the votes that have come in....the majority have been for Yoriko.....unfortuantly I have NO clue on what to do as a theme...
Please if you have any ideas post what you think....
HOWEVER...there is a number of votes for someone else also, so I will propose this for you to think about....
I am going to do a couple of them...1 for Yoriko...1 for the other receipiant, and 1 will be a mystery...
if you would like to have a couple going, then I can post alot of pictures and no one will be able to tell wether they are the one or not.....Yes I LOVE keeping people in suspense and you never know who is going to get what....SORRY...that is just me....
What do you say....would you be willing to make 2 or possible 3 squares this time around?
Let us know the colors and themes for each...can't wait to get started!
Hugs
I know Yoriko loves Australian native birds. Maybe we could also incorporate some beautiful cherry blossom that grow so beautifully in Japan.

Deanna, I think we will have a hard time finding enough embroidery designs of Australian birds to make up a quilt. There just aren't that many of them available. Sorry to put a damper on this idea.

Count me in for sure.
To get ideas for the one for Yoriko, I think you only need to look at her designs on her website to get an idea of things she likes. I would think Geisha's and Sakura blossoms would play an important part in her life as she is very proud of being Japanese.
But she seems to be equally proud to be a new Aussie so perhaps some bottle brush flowers, wattle, Waratahs, Kookaburras, Rosellas would not be amiss interspersed amongst a Traditional Japanese theme.
Reds and golds are lucky colours for Chinese, I'm not sure if this is true of Japanese, but then, their flag is the Red Sun so perhaps it is.
I hope these suggestions are helpful.
