I've made a baby patch quilt,with embroidered teddys.Now I would like to embroider the 16 plain blocks with a simple line quilt block design, after the batting and backing is in place.

Not sure what you mean by "simple line". Can you explain it more?

The baby quilt is already rather 'busy looking'. The lines will sew through the thick batting and backing also .
Maybe "few" or "plain" would describe it better.

Try Designs In Stitches. They have lots of free designs and some are Redwork type quilt squares.
