I was surrounded by some of the people I love and who love me: my dad (97), my sister, one of my three brothers, one of my sons with his wife and three children (7, 5 and 2yrs old). My other children were in Germany (in her second house, the school holidays having started here), in Norway (where she happens to live) and in France (where he's on vacation).
The weather was beautiful, so we sat in the garden while the children played hide and seek all through the house. The youngest had just been successfully potty trained, but in the excitement the wooden floors got a couple of good sprinklings and dear hubby cleaned up after her. There was a huge bowl of strawberries and a strawberry cake, but even so the strawberry beds where trampled in search of fresh ones to be picked.
My brother remarked it was amazing we could now agree with each other for a couple of hours on end, so getter older had its benefits. And dad who's hearing is not what it used to be contributed to conversations with remarks that had us all guessing which words could have triggered such a response. So you see it was a lovely day to remember.
And in the evening my husband watched Spain beat Germany in the soccer championships against the expectations of many here.
Love and roses, Martine
It sounds like a wonderful day; so nice to spend it with family, and enjoy each other. I wish you many more lovely birthdays, too.
Hugs,
Jacquelin
I love your new look!!
