Hi, I'm near Flint, MI and it has been very hot and humid. As to Traverse City, bring lots of money. Not a cheap town, but very beautiful with Lake Michigan close. It is a very busy tourist town. If you get a chance, take in Frankenmuth. It's off US23/I75. It has the biggest Xmas store you've ever seen, Bronners. Also, they are known for their chicken dinners. Have a safe trip, and a big welcome to Michigan :)
