wide. Like 5/8" wide. Is this too wide? Will the tension of the stitch pucker the fabric really badly? I did a practice stitch out. As soon as I took the hoop off, it pulled in a bit. After ironing it, it doesn't look too bad, but I'm wondering about catching the threads on things like diamond wedding rings, etc. If this IS too big, does someone know where I can get fonts that are digitized for really big monograms?

When I stitch out a large monogram, I use a fill stitch instead of a satin stitch.

That is what I was thinking I would need. The font in my machine is called Anniversary. Any ideas of where to get it in a LARGE filled size?

The satin stitch is too long and will catch on everything and will be ruined in no time. Try a fill stitch instead

Nancy, does your program have an edit feature on it? IF so - it will allow you to change the Mono from a satin to a fill usually. You can purchase lots of different fonts and alphabets from many sites - that are larger - you just have to look around to get the kind that you prefer.

Shirlene, I've just spent the last hour looking at fonts. I can't find the font she wants in a large size. It looks like the letters used in the carnival font on Cute Alphabets without the carnival part.

That's the problem when resizing a letter, the satin stitch soon becomes too wide. 15 mm or 3/8 " is about the maximum width you should use.
My software - both 3D and Embird - let me choose a filled stitch (but that looses the gloss of the satin stitch) or a 'striped' satin stitch (3 coloumns instead of one).
Otherwise you have to digitise it yourself or buy pre-digitised ones.
In Designs in Embroidery #54 (look at www.dzgns.com for the digital issue) there's a T-shirt embroidered with a 5 1/2 " L. That came from the 'Five and Dime Monogram set by Embroidery Arts. No idea aout the price. You could have a look at the site.
