Hi its usually a dollar per thousand stitches. But charge what you think is fair and you will not go wrong. I always figure it out then look at it and ask myself what would I pay for this? Then I go somewhere inbetween. Hope this helps! Suzanne

Thanks Suzanne, I don't do much for other people but can't do for free because I've spent a lot on all my supplies.It also takes time.
I don't embroidery much for others, either. But you are right, supplies are costly.

You can charge either a dollar per thousand or two dollars per thousand.Depends on what it is. I worked for a lady at an embroidery shop and some customers would bring in a Wal-Mart shower curtain and would want 3 initials 10 inches tall and it would equal out to 75,ooo stitches or more. The shower curtain was $15. She didn't charge what she should have. So be fair to yourself. You are using your electricity and your time . Roberta P.S. When you get into doing 10 inches tall or more you get into filled stitches which is a lot of stitches and takes longer to do.
What if you did an appqlique instead? But then you would need just the right fabric would'nt you?*4U

Tell your client ahead of time that you charge a certain amount per stitch count and then you can print the chart to show the client for payment. Embroidery supplies probably cost more for the home embroider who don't buy in bulk.
