Not sure where the star was but Sunni has an angel that can be used with thread (Sorry I saved the name but the not the URL for Sunni) and Snaggerstitches has a turkey that uses thread snips. I tried the URL for snaggerstitches and couldn't find it but you could try her Yahoo group

This yahoo group had several - don't know if they still do: coasters, turkey, Easter Egg, and 4 leaf clover.

Maybe you want to try out these, click free designs in the menu left, then "organza".
There you find appliques you can fill with rickrack and threads.

Thanks, this flower is really lovely. I have saved the freebies and also a link to the page for instructions. Grateful for your help.

If you lay your threads between 2 layers of WSS, & put the whole thing in the hoop & do a stipple stitch around it, & then use it like a piece of material. You can use it with any applique design, & get the same thread look. Pat

Thanks so much. I have downloaded quite a few freebies of stippling so will try that.
