Thanks Shirlene! In the pic with my hair long, that is actually hanging in large ringlets, it was about 4" longer than it looked. My parents love it short, but then they always have.
by shirlener88 13 Aug 2010
I am glad to see you - in a upclose picture and I am thrilled to know - that you are doing so well - hug your parents for me (both of mine are gone) they love you dear - isn't it great? Wear your hair anyway that you want to - it looks great both long and short.

giving this a try! 1st is with my hair long, second is the cut I did myself after they said it was going to fall out, then dh and I got matching buzz cuts when it started falling out and he shaved later and last was taken yesterday (Aug. 12, 2010). So, there ya go, this is me.<br />Debra Novak from Canton Ohio USA

Love your "new" hair! That is so cool that your hubby shaved his head to match yours! God Bless and I'm so happy you are doing well. Carol
by leenova54 13 Aug 2010
Thank you. Yeah, he's a pretty good guy and was by my side through it all. Luckily I had an easy time of it, breezed through surgery.
by lflanders 13 Aug 2010
I love your curls! My hair is just naturally straight but after I started wearing it short, I did not need the curls. My hair is about the length of yours in the last picture (with curls) and it is easier to fix than it was when I was younger. It has been short since I was about 20.
I am happy to hear that you are doing so well after the surgery. That is the RIGHT kind of news! By the way, give your hubby a big Thank You from me, just for being such a nice guy. Not all are like that! You can see the dtress/worry on both of your faces in the picture together but your smile in the last one is priceless! May God bless you and keep you in his loving hands! Linda

Distress... I can not see to do much typing right now. It is time to gwet my eyes checked again.
by leenova54 13 Aug 2010
Thank you! Funny thing was, I was not worried from the start, I have a large scar on my back from the surgery and 2 on my side from the chest tubes. I was home in 4 days but collapsed the lung 3 weeks later and had to spend another 4 days in. It was caught early so the chemo was not so bad, I was mad because I didn't lose any weight at all!!!

Thank you. I told my husband to tell me a joke to make me smile for this pic so he asked if I wanted to hear a couple of dillies and then said "dilly dilly" so I laughed. He is a very funny guy, annoying too but we have been married almost 32 years now.

This remind me a beautiful story!!!! I am a retired Fifth G. teacher, not to long ago I had student with this gorgeous long hair, I kept telling her PLease do not cut your hair, an as a joke, I would said "I am going to give you an F in you do it" ONe Monday morning I see her with these beautiful very short hair cut!. Oh! Why did you do it? She responded I donated my hair for cancer survivors I hugged her, told her You have an A+.
by leenova54 13 Aug 2010
That's funny! I would have donated what I cut off of mine but it was dyed and I was told they only use natural. It is much easier to take care of when it is short and mine was naturally curly since I was 12, it is twice as curly now!

Thanks for caring, we have such a loving group on cute. I have worn my hair short more than long but I had been growing it out. Funny, losing the hair didn't bother me that much, I have many many hats now!

You see... if we loose something we work to win another. We (woman) are so smart.

He can be a real pain but he is a good guy. He said it wasn't fair to me though cause his hair grew right back but I was bald for months. Bald and alive is better than the alternative, lol!

Thank you! I'd love to lose 50 pounds (wouldn't we all). So far I don't think I will dye my hair but I wish it had come in all white. This partial stuff isn't so great. I had natural curls but it is twice as curly now!

Thanks, mine went naturally curly when I was 12 (got it from my dad) but not this curly! It is a lot more gray now too but that could change back to normal. Sometimes the pigment dies off and then comes back.

Yeah, I had heard about it, mine has some natural curl but mine really came in with a lot more gray and tighter curls. Don't know if I will dye it but I am thinking of keeping it natural but I have heard that it can still change back to normal. Love to your friend for me, I had a really easy time of it. Surgery to remove part of my lung and then collapsed the lung then the chemo but I breezed through it all. I am fearless!

I know, I am wondering when the curl will loosen up a bit! I have not used a comb or brush yet! I just ruffle it with my fingers and let it air dry. Hope your health is good, I am confident even though they say 50% chance of it recurring. I say 50% chance it won't!

Thanks, I have a 50% chance of not having it happen again. I have about a dozen of these spots in my lungs and the first one grew so they took the lower lobe of my lung, then 3 months after chemo they said another was growing but another scan showed it was a bit smaller. Next scan in Dec.

Love them all! it is amazing how chemicals put into our bodies can kill some cells but can change other cells such as hair to be so different. You look amazing Debra. hugs. Cindy B.

by leenova54 14 Aug 2010
Thanks Cindy. It is funny cause the stuff kills off the hair follicles but not all of them, mostly large patches and then it grows back in so different. Mine was naturally curly already but I didn't expect it to be this curly! I haven't used a comb or brush on it yet, I just ruffle it with my fingers and let it air dry. I guess you can call me lucky, lol!

Enjoy your new "post chemo" hair while it lasts Debra, and I hope it lasts longer than mine did. LOL!!!
I had gorgeous curly, smokey grey & silver hair for all of six months, now it's completely back to the way it was pre-chemo and I'm do disappointed.

But I truly enjoyed every moment of my once in a lifetime 'chemo-curls'.

I'm just so happy to see you came through chemo and conquered cancer, if you can do that there is NOTHING you can't do.
YOU GO GIRL!!!
Hugs n love, Meganne

Thanks for the well wishes. I am wondering how long it will be till I have my regular hair back. I'd rather it went all white and stayed that way. I did have natural curls but nothing like this so I wonder if it will end up straight or just with my old curliness.
