Embossed is nice for fluffy plush fabrics such as towels or fleece blankets. The design stitches out and usually in the center it is empty that is where the fabric will puff out in the shape of the design such as a letter or animal shape, it is quite pretty. If you look in projects you will see many towels made with embossed designs.
