Mary here is a cute and easy quilt with lots of options and easy layering. The other site is called crazy about quilting. I teach this class and I call mine Nine Patch gone Crazy. Not sure you will be able to follow her instructions. But if you like it I will send you a copy of my instructions that I use for the class.(my quilt picture, 1st is before it is quilted, 2nd, is with quilting, 3rd is with backing) Sometimes it's best to go to a quilt shop, or check out a book from the Library, if this is your first quilt. here are some videos on quilting and free block patterns from Eleanor Burns, I love making her quilt in a day series, she teaches a strip quilting method for them.
I also gave link to a quilt as you go method, I personally have never done this but thought it might interest you.

I tried the quilt as you go method but for a place mat, (my design), and it was easy and quick, (after I had my measurements right.hehehe)
