I had a few night sweats over the last few years. But now it's warm flashes every hour or so. About 3 nights ago it started. The flashes weren't so bad but waking up every 45 minutes made me lose my sleep. I blame my older sisters, it's contagious and they gave it to me. And....wait for it..... we are having a heat wave. Now you can LOL!

I want you to come visit me in January. I will need your extra heat when it gets minus 20 plus windchill. And I am not kidding. Seriously, I am sorry, but thank goodness that you have lots of support.

Been there, done that, don't want to do it again...I'm glad I finally finished with the hot flashes and all that comes with it.....I took Black Cohosh (not sure if I spelled it right) and it really helped but it takes about 4 -6 weeks to work....just remember it will stop one day.......Janet

I just wish we could have them "on demand". Then when winter sets in imagine the $ we would save on the heating bills!;)

I think I've commented on this from another Cutie's post one time, but I have heard them called (and I agree!) "Power Surges"
And, as to the heat wave, I had to "cold turkey" (actually it felt more like ROAST turkey!) coming off hormone replacement therapy when I had to have a breast biopsy (thankfully, caught before it became cancerous). Three weeks later, we were in Las Vegas, Nevada, for our son's birthday (he was in the Air Force there), and it was the hottest summer on record for the area -- 115 degrees every day. I was sweating, but I couldn't tell if it was the heat or the hormones!!
I feel your pain, dear!
Blessings,
Diane
PS -- after we got home (to Georgia), I decided it was the hormones! As I told my husband recently, if he can't find me, just check our big freezer; I'll be in there! LOL

I'm so happy to hear you caught your lump in time. One of my sisters went through the same thing. She found the lump herself. So, she too, went through cold/hot turkey.

LOL - just don't get like the wife of one of the guys I used to work with. He came home and she was doing her housework in the nude - She was not a small woman and I so wanted to ask if she wasn't afraid that she wouldn't get one of her rolls hung up in something.

YAY-sounds like we are all a bunch of menopausal, embroidery "hotties" Knock on wood-I don't have the wake me out of sleep nite sweats, but I do get those "power surges"-but in all fairness-summer time is a really difficult time to really tell how much is the change and how much is humidity and hot temperatures sometimes. I will tell you this tho-my husband sure hates the way I can snap back at him these days if I don't agree with what he says or does lol-I started taking the one a day for meno.-seems to help somewhat-I refuse to start taking any kind of pills of any sort-I can't even remember the one a day most days =O)

I thought these would be over with Memo pas, but I am on several meds that have side effects of hot flushes. Just learn to live with them. I know that is harsh, but reality.

Well, I will tell you that if you get upset or stressed in any way, they multiply...
When I start getting one, I have to hold my breath and keep repeating "ITS OK..ITS OK...LET IT GO YOULL BE FINE" then I stand in front of the fan and hope to goodness it works...I can usually work my way through it...it usually starts in the chest and moves right on up.....

BY THE WAY....drink more water, stay away from caffiene and get more sleep....Any of those 3 make them worse....

Thanks for the info. Not sure how to get more sleep when the sweats keep waking me up. They seem to be minor and short. Do you think they will come in a pattern like monthly?

Got to town one day and my daughter asked me if I was going to button up my top before getting out of the car. They came and went in record time and I felt guilty for not getting them like my sister did. Did put a fan in the bathroom and that made all the difference to me.

I'll try to remember to button up.LOL
I did walk around the house without a blouse the other day but my adult boys weren't home. My girls still thought it was outrageous.
