If you D/L files that are zipped, you just have to right click on the file and, choose: extract all, when the new window opens. This is done by windows-without using your Ped-Basic. works for me. Good luck!

Did you DL Ped- Basic from the internet? PED basic CD does not work with window7 or vista, you have to upgrade it .

You have to take the designs and put them on cds.. That way you'll know where they are..when you click on the pes files, you have to put it in the ped basic,by cliking on the box in the program in ped basic.....

Welcome to Cute. There is some advice given to you. Is the design larger than 4x4" or 10x10 cm and this is the only frame size you have? if this is so then the design will not show. Sometimes you are only making a small error and it doesnot work. I have PE Design 5 ( a bit elderly but does me fine) and the dongle has to be fitted in to my laptop for the designs to open or for me to make up the patterns I do. You should have a copy of the PES manual - not very readable to some but look at it carefully and follow it. Good Luck and hope you solve your problems

I have Windows 7 and PE Design 8, I had to upgrade so it would work on the new system, the old windows was a 32 bit and the new windows 7 is a 64 bit. They are not compatible, see if your Ped-Basic can be set up to work on a 64 bit system. You may have to call the manufacturer to find out how to make it work with your new computer. Pain in the neck, I agree but well worth it when you are done. PS Welcome this is a great site.

Welcome to Cute, my friend has Ped Basic and she had to call the company and they told her how to download the update for window 7. Then also her computer with window 7 did not have a unzip program installed and she had to download one for free of the net. but I don't remember which one she downloaded. She got a little frustrated at first then when she got the programs updated and she got the unzip program she was up and running. Just make sure you get the size designs that your machine will sew and that Ped Basic will handle. I may be be wrong but I think Ped Basic will only do 4x4 and 5x7. Good Luck just call the support # that came with your Ped Basic and you will get straight. They are very helpful. I was there when my friend had to call. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I just got Windows 7 on my new computer, and had to D/L a patch program to make it work with PED Basic. You need to go into www.brothersews.com, and keep looking for PEd Basic with Win 7. I got my info from my Brother dealer. It was really time consuming, but it did work. Wish I could be more help, but my memory has sometimers. Hugs, Judy

A new and free program called FoxitReader will work, depending on where you set your default FoxitReader will show the design and the color sequencing of the design. I find FoxitReader very easy to install. Just Google it.

I use ped basic on my windows 7.
Brother do have an update which is version 1.07 I believe.
Mine is working fine..
I to am wondering if you have your frame set at the 4x4 and are looking to transfer a larger file..
when you have you ped basic open.
top left hand corner you will see the hoop selector
please ensure this is set to 5x7 then you will see all designs upto that hoop size.
