Welcome!! You do need a Font Software I do not know if there is one for free, if there is one please let us know. Embird has one it is not expensive, but you have to buy Embird Basic, I believe is around 180 dollars. Good luck it will be very nice to have a Font software, Don't you think? LOL WELCOME

If you google free font software, there are several; haven't tried any.Anyone else tried them?
The font engine I tried from embir is not for free - but I used it so often - it covered all my needs to write a saying or so - what I can't do with alphas.
Sorry, I forgot - the fontengine belongs to embird
Mary, yes it would...and thanks ya'll

I'm not sure you want to use a software or not.
I can give only the advice to try a software - it has unbelievable abilyties of designs, to change and to create your own style.
Try first free software to get an overlook about what is good for you.
I've digitizer programme now - after some years - but I started with now knowledge with the free trial of embird. (I still use it, because I like it, it's not too complicated)
Have a look if you want at:
http://www.embird.com/index.htm
I bought at first the basic programme only and the iconizer.
The Iconizer I found important, because it makes you able to see all embroiderydesigns from your computer as a picture if you open the file you saved the designs.
Hope this helps you
Good luck and go the steps - you will be amazed what you can create!
don't stop to ask what you want

cherrysue, what software do you have right now - surely you have some sort of software to work with your designs - to get your designs from your PC to your machine - it might be able to do what you want - have you looked through your manual? *4U Shirlene

I dont think you can type what you want to say without embroidery softwear. I use PE Design 5. PE 8 is now out but mine still does what I need so am not updating yet. With the embroidery machines I have used they have all had softwear

Before you get your software package you can still start to save design files and then import them to your software when you get it installed.

Where at in the south are you from? You used the word ya'll. hehehe... Do you have a sewing place nearby that you can go to classes to help you with your new machine? You are very brave going "cold turkey" with your new machine. I wish I could tell you what you need, but I'm still learning myself. Using the PEdesign from my daughter, I actually am saving what I write on my file folder in my computer and then hooking my machine to my computer. If I'm going somewhere with my machine, I can d/l it directly into my machine for the time I want and then delete and start over again. That's about all I can tell you.
