the right way. I had issues with the beta version also so I just went back to the regular version, but iconizer doesn't work.

Yes, and also on the windows 7-32 bit - despite re-installing the software strictly in accordance with their instructions. Have also set the compatibility tab to Windows XP but even that has not sorted it out. The icons displayed are just a random selection from that particular file, although the download window shows the correct one. I know how it should work as it was installed previously on windows XP pro.

I too downloaded the trial beta version and eventually got it all working, including the iconizer. Then I paid for the passwords. Now the iconizer does n't show !! I do n't seem to have any problems with the rest of it. I darn n't reinstall it again because I am not quite sure what I am doing with installing passwords! Better wait until my son comes to visit and put it on the list of computer things to look at. We seem to swap sewing needing doing for technical support!

I have had Embird for 7 years and operated it on XP. For my birthday in June my husband bought me a laptop with Windows 7. I have been very reluctant to load Embird as it works so well on the old computer. Anything complicated is beyond me!!

mine is working fine on win 7 64 bit except for one thing. I have problems with windows explorer shuting down when I am sorting, cutting, pasting, etc. I have to work real slow and keep restarting the explorer.

I just got an email back from them...nothing has changed, I think it's the same email I got before to try other versions. I've had the same problem with it wanting to shut down all the time, and iconizer doesn't work. If I would have known about all these problems I would not have spent the money on a new laptop and embird. All these problems can't be good for their business.

Holly and Larry Pike over at Artistic Thread Works talk about this problem as well. Their solution for their business was to buy another version of Windows XP (some are still available) and load it onto an Apple computer. This was done some time ago and things are still working well. I believe Holly digitizes with Generations, so the problem occurs with other brands of digitizing software also. The bottom line is Windows 7 is a lot of hype with window dressing but still dysfunctional.

I have embird 2010 installed on my new windows 32 bit.. took me ages to get iconizer work but got there in the end :-)
was to do with setting the compatilbility..
I thought I had set the compatilbility as per instructions,
I then done a search on my pc for embird every file that come up i set it to windows xp
I clicked on the embird icon on my desktop and set it to windows xp then all my designs appeared such a relief..
Not sure which one worked but i did get there :-)

Thank you, I am going to try this - so frustrating when most of the program works so well.

I don't know if it will help at all with other software for Windows 7 but the following was provided by another digitizing software for installation on Win 7. It has to be run as Administrator ONLY relating to the privilege level.

Here are the highlights of the document.

1. Insert software CD/DVD into computer's CD/DVD reader.
2. Left click 'computer' under start.
3. Right click on the 'CD/DVD drive' and then left click on 'Open'. Do not click on 'Open Auto Play...'.
4. Right click on the Setup.exe and then left click on properties.
5. Left click on compatibility
6. Left click the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for' and then select Windows XP from the drop down list.
7. Left click the 'Run this program as an administrator' under 'Privilege Level'
8. Left click on ok
9. Run the installer and install the software

Remember, this is not from Embird but from another digitizing software but it at least gives some tips about installing with the highest privileges in Win 7.

Oh, I'm sorry for problem. I work with embird since years and made the third update. Nowadays I worked with it under windows vista, before xp.

At the beginning with vista the iconizer didn't run. i reunstalled embird completely from my computer (laptop) and madde it completely knew - the it worked properly.
Few days ago I tested my editor from wingd free programme - this embird didn't like. wings was automatically overwrited. After deleting iconizer was there again.
Hope you can find a solution.

For good answers from Mr. Balarad it needs sometimes more then one email!!
I had this what you described. Write it from your PC not via website.
