you pull the bottom side edge of your tshirt through them and it gathers it up, sort of makes a fitted look. They were in fashion a 'few' years back - I guess they are coming back as things do :)

Good Question - I finally figured it out when I saw my granddaughter using a pony tail holder for the t-shirts I made for her. Then I made her some of these (although I changed the design to be dolphins - her most favorite thing these days).

You got your answer - my GDs used to gather their shirt tails up and tie them. I haven't seen them doing that for a while. Of course, they are teenagers now, and things change when they get older.

I made a couple and used them to roll up my sleeves using buttons. Hate to get my sleeves wet when working in the kitchen.
