Yes you will get hoop burn on corduroy.
Hoop only the stabilizer

I would not hoop anything but the stabilizer, then I would baste the fabric to the stablizer. I go to Emblibrary many times for help. Scroll down about 3/4th of the way down and it says "How to embroidery on corduroy". Hope you find this helpful. H&*

Everybody as usual is correct, do not hoop corduroy. Hoop the stabilizer, (on thick fabrics like this I also use a bit of blue painters tape just as a precaution to keep the top fabric in place) and also be sure to sure some sort of topping or your threads will sink into the fabric and not be as pretty.

Velvet, corduroy, fleece, to name but a few, all those fabrics with a thicker or thinner pile get hoopburn. So in all those cases use one of the methods mentioned by every one. And use a thin water soluble stabiliser on top, or the type you can remove with a hot iron, e.g. heat-away.

You have your answer. I think Margie has a great idea with the painters tape. Never used it for a project, but then again I've never had use for it, but there will come a day... Great info to store in the back of my brain. (if it isn't overstuffed already) hehehe.

you had your answers already, same here: don't hoop corduroy it will show afterwards so sticky tear away and WSS on top. Good luck
