I have the Brother 1500D. I LOVE mine but the only draw back is that you cannot use a memory stick with it. We've tried an adapter but the machine is made not to recognize the stick... However that is were the PEdesign come in play. You can d/l on the cards and use them there. I have my daughters PED and I find it somewhat confusing. But I don't have the instructions and I try to use the help with it but still, I'm too dense to "get it". I do use it for my fonts though. It's easy to do. I did digitize one time on it with my daughters help, but she went too fast for this old lady to catch up on. hehehehee... Definitely enjoy the 1500....

I was told it has a usb connection I won't know till I get it but I don't know wether to buy the PE Design or just use embird and buy their digitizing program

The usb connection is for your computer only and not the memory sticks. I use the usb when I want to stitch something from my file folders of designs I've bought or the freebies. :)
