My neighbour and fellow member of our pub quiz team had a dodgy heart valve replaced yesterday. This card is 20cms square so there is plenty of room for lots of signatures inside! Mops' lovely rose and my words stitched onto a paper doiley. The hard part was threading the ribbon without tearing the paper!

Sue what a fab idea! I've never embroidered on paper before. Did you put something on top to keep it from tearing or just a medium stabilizer under to give it some stability? This is beautiful! I know the your friend will LOVE this.

I hooped a piece of printer paper and used a few dabs with a glue stick to keep the doiley from moving. If you look carefully, you can see where I glued two close to the edge making it difficult to cut the paper away beatly.

This was my second one - I'd used a different rose on the first but it wasn't as nice as yours!

This is just so neat and elegant looking to be on paper. I just have to try this...is this design in the cuties files? I like the openness of the rose.
Thanks for sharing.

Mops did put the rose in DBC. You need designs with few stitches for paper.

Sue, this is lovely - so sorry to hear you had trouble with that ribbon - but I can see why - it is so fragile - what a special care you have made.
