Since I am fairly new to machine embroidery...can someone please tell me what the mylar designs are...: (

Mylar is a kind of plastic witch can be used for special designs. Mylar designs have an open filling of the motif.In that way the plastic called Mylar will be visible through the design and it gives a sparkle to the design.You can see if you click the link how to do mylar embroidery, If it's a design that is made for mylar use it mostly is written in the name of the design.Good luck

Hello lulu07, the mylardesigns are less dense than the normal designs. Mylar is a material that you put under your mebroiderydesign and gives the design a little sparkle. To read more about Mylar look at the link below.

mylar is what the shiny balloons are made from. You can buy them in sheets.(the mylar) and then apply them to your designs. Some are like applique others you can just lay it down and stitch over it. (fsl) I've not tried this, but do understand it.
