Did you buy your machine from a dealer? If so, they should be able to help you. I have a lower Brother so I am not sure how the 1500d works, sorry.

I had to take mine in to the dealer to help me set it up..they can show you on their computers and you can take notes if you do not have a laptop.....Or have them on the phone while they walk you through it...good luck deanna..

Hi and welcome to Cute. You say you are English, where did you buy your machine from? If it is a dealer they should have gone through showing you what to do. There are a number of British Cuties on the site so if you are prepared to say where you are then there might be someone close by. Congratulations on buying yourself such a great machine. Do you have the softwear like PE design to help you transfer designs from the computer to the machine? Sorry lots of questions. Brother instructions books are not an easy read, if that helps too
