That is Dongle, not Dongo. It is a security key.It goes into your USB port.

To do what ??i don't need that with my machine!!
You will need it with the 5D Cross s
Stitcher, I would think. I have one with Janome Digitizer Pro/MB. Can't use the digitising software without inserting it first.

I'm so sorry for you - don't give up!
You will find a help -be sure.
I think they mean "dongle" which means a kind of USB stick for the computer to give you the right to use the programme, I have one also for my machine-programme. Like a PIN
I'm not firm in husquarna machines, but only want to encourage you to wait for a help - many cuties have designer2!
God bless you - you always have a chance to learn and step forward!
It's not a matter of age.

I see the others's have assisted you - with the dongle issue - good luck my dear - all the Husqvarna software needs one of these to work - it is a coded key, as sciencewidow says to keep unauthrized use of their software. The price for a replacement is rather high - almost easier to buy new software - if something ever happened to it, thank pay what they want to replace it.

I have a HVDII. I bought the 3D Professional Suite four years ago so I don't know about the prices of each module. The 'dongle' works as a key to open the different modules to your 3D, 4D or 5D programs. It looks a bit like a little flashdrive and is plugged into a usb port in your computer or usb hub.
It allows you to access the embroidery program on your computer and work on a design and then save it to transfer the design to your machine.
You would also need Reader/writer unit and personal d-card to transfer designs to the HVDII.
You do need to get some more information. I think you should contact ....
http://www.secretsof.com/
Contact them and tell them what you are trying to do and ask them if they can send you some helpful information.
I get their Secretsof Newsletter regularly and they are very good.
Husqvarna have help areas, too, but they do tend to be rather technical. However, I get the regular Husqvarna Software Newsletter and that is very useful.
Contact Husqvarna through their main site and send a message, telling them what you are doing and what you need. They will point you in the right direction.
Also Google 'Husqvarna Embroidery Programs' to get some more information.
Both of these places are used to non-technical people wanting information. Ask all the questions you can think of and don't hesitate to contact them.
There is a lot of information available and when you are armed with it you can become very confused but it will sort itself out as you learn more about it.
There are other people here who have used the programs longer than I and who will probably give you more help.
I think you would need the 3D, 4D or 5D Embroidery System before you could use any of the add-on modules.
I hope this helps you a little bit.

Looks like you've not only gotten your answer but some good information. The price of the dongle will be similar to the price of the 5d cross stitcher if my memory serves me correctly.

If I understand 3-4D software, you must have one of the main programs for the extras to work, and your dongle will come with the main program. I have 4D Extra Software, and I really love it. I haven't even looked at 5D yet. Because as soon as I do I will probably want to upgrade!!! The store told me when I got my 4D that if I wanted any Modules to do other things, talk to them. But I have been happy with what I have. Hahaha! Hugs, Judy

I hav the 5_ upgrade and just love it. But you first have to purchase the 5Dbasic program with dongle. This is like a key that allows you to use your program. You can install the program on as many computers as you want but they want open unless the dongle is in a USB slot on your computer. I don't know if you can still buy the 4D from Husq. but the 5D is out, and if you buy it from e-bay ect. be sure the dongle is included (worthless without it). I love the cross stitcher, but it came with the program, of course I paid more but got the profesional version. The only draw back to this program is its price. Very expensive.

I was employed for Viking, sold many machines, and having a dongle was more than it was worth, they were always being repaired. Check out a BabyLock embroidery machine.

I have 3D & it's upgrades. But don't think I can get a new dongle if mine breaks. I have it in the back USB port of my computer with an adapter between it & the computer. They are "VERY expensive to replace, so take good care of it! You do need it to use any of the Viking programs on your computer. It's a security device. I think you MAY need the whole or at least the basic 5D program to use the cross stitcher. Good luck & keep us posted on what you do!!
