The Babylock Ellismo has and 8x8 hoop and bigger. I know a couple of the ladies with those machines and they love those bigger hoops - perhaps they will stop by. Mine is a Babylock Ellegante2 and my largest hoop is a 7.75 x 11 inch and I love that size, too. I would love to be able to stitch with a bigger hoop - but I surely don't have the money for another machine. Hehehe!

Whoever does is sooooo lucky! I have a 4 x 4 and man would I love to be able to do a full size on a t-shit and such but mine is strictly for my amusement so I can't justify buying anything so extravagant.

I embroider less than I once did and have friends who have the huge hoops. It takes them hours and hours to embroider those large designs, and the amount of stabilizer and thread is costly too. I don't have a problem with multi-hooping when I need a larger design and have taken the designs into my software and split them so I can use the hoops I have. I also have the D1 and SE machines. I would never pay the price of a Diamond just for the larger hoop. I think the Pfaff also has a large hoop, but they are costly machines too.

The Grass is always greener on the other side.And that is why I have a Brother Largest hoop +- 6x10.
Cost a lot of money and clutted my sewing space.
Lots of times I think it complicated my life.
I don't get as much sewing done like I used to. Also since I am here on Cute for some long hours DL the whole of CyberSpace and packing it into my Design Folders.
I still use Multi hoopings to get things lined up and the smaller of the hoops work best for this,

I currently have an Ellisimo (Babylock) it is fabulous. The Jumbo hoop has a 200mmX300mm or 8"X12" embroidery field, next hoop down is 8" X8" then a 5" X7" and there is one more that is smaller (but I never use it). The hoop I use most is the 8" X8". Still it is nice to have the ability to sew out the really large designs in one hooping. The best feature of the Ellisimo is the built in camera that gives you a bird's eye view of the stitch area. This feature has saved me several times, when the hoop popped open and I had to realign the design or once when I had taken the design out of the hoop and had to re-do a part of the design. It is so easy to line things up again. With the little "snowman" you can center the design so easily. Built-in memory for plenty of designs and 2 Type A USB flash drive ports is wonderful. It was expensive, but well worth it. Also, the Ellisimo can easily be updated with software changes from Babylock. You can increase or decrease the size of the design, rotate, combine designs, etc. using the touch screen on the machine. The touch screen is 8.5" diagonally. I can use a 4 GB flash drive (from Costco) to store designs, put it in the machine and sew. Bernina 830 requires the special Bernina 1 GB flash drive. Do I sound like a commercial for Babylock? Sorry, I do love my machine.

I have brother pr620 my biggest hoop is 11.8" x 7.9". I am not good with imperial measurements being and Aussie girl and always working in metric. I like that I can use a big hoop but to be honest the bigger the hoop the more chance of registration problems. But I seriously do not have the patience for multi hooping. and as my machine is a 6 needle machine I don't have to be bothered with to many thread changes either.

Well Chris, you know I have the Diamond, and truth be told I favour the old 5x7 or 4x4 hoops the most. The Diamond didn't come with a 5x7 so I had to buy one. The Elna uses a 6x10 and I wish it had a 5x7 as I waste stabiliser with the 6x10. The Brother only came with a 5x7 so I had to buy a 4x4.

So far the only time I have used the larger hoops for the Diamond have been when I wanted to stitch out multiple FSL designs at Christmas time.

When I move up to Blue Haven you can come use my Diamond when you need to sew out anything larger than the 5x7, OK?

Chris I too dream of a bigger hoop but only for making quilt squares. Alot of the quilt squares are 8x8 and I would love to have it for that. I do have a giga hoop but have to split the designs for it and have not yet mastered the splitting. I sure have managed to do alot with my 5x7 though. Hugs Lisa

My Brother Quattro has an 8x8 and a 12x8 as the largest hoops and do I ever have fun.

Chris, I too would like a machine that takes a larger hoop....my Brother came with 6x10,5x7 and 4x4. But, it simply isn't in the cards for me - when you buy a machine that can do larger hoops you almost spend enough money to buy a small car..hehehe!! But, we can dream, can't we?*

Have you thought about the Bernina 830 my largest hoop is 16.5x10.5 inches it is great for really big
designs . And a beautiful machine to sew on.

Do I detect a desire for a new machine??? As much as you sew and as beautiful as your work is, I would splurge for another one if it is in the budget. I have 3 different ones but will never be able to afford another one so I try not to wish for much. I did fall in love with the Ellisimo after seeing it but another machine is not in my future. Terri is the one to talk to about the Ellisimo. (simplyrosie) From what she has said about hers, she loves it. It has a much larger sewing field than the 2 Babylocks that I have. My singer was on the titanic but still has a beautiful stitch! It was among the very first embroidery machines so you know it has been a long time since I got it!

Be sure to think about the format the machine takes. I have a Babylock Elissimo which takes pes format. It is a common format so you can easily get lots of designs for it. It has an 8 or 9" wide by 14" hoop. Other machines use formats that are harder to get.

Yes Chris a machine with a larger hoop would be brilliant. I am looking at the Brother PR650

BabyLock Ellegente has really nice hoops. I enjoy mine very much-no problems in 4 years now. it is a real workhorse in my opinion.The largest hoop is 30 cm x 18 cm (approx. 12x7) all the way down to a hoop which is 2 cm x 6 cm (1"x2 1/2")nice for socks.
I agree watch for the format PES is readily available with free designs.

I have a Janome 11000SE and it has a 8x8,7x5,and 4.3 x 4.9, and you can get a Mega hoop which is really big. The 7x5 hoop has the magnetic clips and I love it for quilting and embroidery on quilts.... it is an amazing machine and I love the regular stitching as much as the embroidery....the SE has the built in quilting designs with different sizes of stippling added...it allows editing and I have so much fun using parts and pieces of designs, plus we can twist, turn, reverse, upside down, or whatever we wish. It has so many built in stitches for heirloom sewing, quilting stitches that look like hand quilting (but I haven't had time to explore this....) My shop lady had me to take the compass block class of Hoopsisters to help me learn how and what this machine would do and boy has it awakened my knowledge about embroidery machines and I just wish I could get another one as I use this one for embroidery so much. It is less than the other machines in our area.... I just really like working with this machine when I am not collecting freebies......

I have been where you are now. I saw the Baby Lock Ellisimo, and the Elgante, and am thinking of going that way. But, I do have two of the SE plus my Iris - but I do wish I had a bigger hoop from time to time. There are things that I really like about the Ellisimo over the Diamond, or the Ruby - but still am hesitant about putting that kind of money out just now. I have not seen the Ruby, but have a friend that has the Topaz, but says she likes her Designer I the best. But, she does have the big hoop. The only thing with the Topaz is that the screen is not in the color we are used to. I was given a better deal on the Ellisimo that I was the Diamond, and they were not giving me a dollar amount for trading in, for they were not certain what my machine was worth. Good luck with you choices.

I love babylock, mine is fantastic, it's expensive but you get what you pay.

I have a Topaz 30. It came with a majestic hoop which will sew up to a 14.5x13.5 design. I can do a jacket back. Have you checked with your Dealer about the larger Hoop???

Forgot to add I was an avid Brothers user until I had a machine 2 days over warranty that the mother board blew up on. They would not cover it and my dealer seemed to care less about it. So I went down the street to my viking dealer. they now get all my business.
