I have found that a lot of newish Pes designs do not show in my PE-Design V6.

After unzipping I know there were 10 designs in that set.But could not view them in the DESIGN DATABASE.
I have used Pulse Ambassador to change them into a lower vesion and now they open and view just fine.
Hope this helps others to find that these must be a newer V8? designs which are on their computers but they don't open. Just today I found 200 others. (They were on my HD but not visible in the v6 program)

I have had that happen too, yesterday my son showed me how to use Trusizer and lower it to 1.0 cause I have Ped-basic 1.07 and it worked but can I remember anything he taught me yesterday? NO!!! So mad at myself!!!

Your PED Basic IS up-to-date if its version 1.07 .. Bev is referring to the digitising program PE-Design which is up to version 8. (Tho I myself am also still using PED ver 6.) xXx

Bev, I am running into the same problem. Many of us are out of work or on fixed incomes and can not afford V8. I can use V6 and below. Now I check what I download in my layout and editing, if it will not show I delete it. Guess, I will have to e-mail the site owner before I purchase anything to see first if it is V6 or below--do not want to waste money on any design that I can not use. H&*

If you find some that don't show/open in layout.Use the program Pulse Ambassador(free)open the design.and then save-as and select pes v2 or v4 or v5 .Now your design is readable for the vesion that you already have.
Don't just delete them.I found over 200 designs that I changed to a lower version.
{even some from cute}.They were super designs and so glad I saved them.
DL freebies also cost Internet time and money.

Pulse Ambassador or Wilcom Truesizer can also convert to a different format. For example, if you haven't collected the designs at Cindes because it's only in PCS format, collect them and convert to your pes format. You change it the same way you would change from pes 8 to a lower pes.
You have to choose to open all formats or the particular format you downloaded in order to start the process.

Not sure if it would help but ask your dealer if they can do an update on your machine, Brother is always updating their softwear, and perhaps it will allow you to use the V8 designs.
Hope this helps

Sadly the update from Version 6 to version 8 (or even 7) is not free, and I suspect many of us just cannot afford it at this time :( xXx

Some machines can only be updated so far then the machine is considered obsolete and they don't make upgrades anymore.

Thanks, I don't think I will upgrade to V8 just Yet{first have to grow another arm and leg,cos thats what V6 cost me already:)}

Tip: to check for them .
a) Open DESIGN DATABASE .
b) Make a new folder.
c) Higlight them.
d) Hold the mouse to move them to your newly made folder.
e) Go to your old folder using the normal windows way.
f)Any Pes (or other) that are in the folder are the ones that need to be converted using Pulse Ambassador(free off the Internet)
Hope you also find lots.
