hope she can where it in the spring as a sun dress. BUT, there is black grease on the needle bar and the presser foot bar! So far it only got on the inside of the dress but I have to finish some of it by hand because the area I need to alter is hard to get to and I have to bunch up the dress which makes it go up around the bars. AHHH!!!

Can you clean off the bar and presser foot with a clean towel or something?

Yes, I keep cleaning and I keep getting more black stuff. It doesn't seem to end. I think I need to bring it back to the shop so they can take it apart and clean up higher on the bars.

Sounds like your machine got overlubed. Here is an idea we use at the shop where I work when a machine comes in like that. Clutch Your machine like you are going to wind a bobbin. Press on the foot control and run the machine for several minutes, sometimes this will warm up the lube or oil and let it all drip down at one time. This doesn't work every time, sometimes it takes two or three times and sometimes the machine needs to be opened up which is best left for a tech. Hope this helps.

I've used the machine quite a bit. Wouldn't it have run down by now if it was going to?
When we use a machine it is stop/start/stop again and so on. Running it constant and consistantly seems to be the thing.

Sorry to hear about the grease----but what's really killing me is......who is she dressing up as? A white dress that can be worn as sundress. Are you going to make us wait to find out? I can't even guess. Oh--just thought--maybe Marilyn Monroe?

No, not Marilyn. She made this up with her friends. They all bought white sun dresses and they are adding silk flowers and wreaths. She is Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. Her friends are Persphone, Goddess of Spring Time and Eirene the Goddess of Peace. They will be beautiful. I'll post pictures after Halloween.
My other daughter is constantly getting mixed up with her friend at school. So they are going as each other. Not much of a costume but very funny in their circle.

Sewmom.....try getting the grease mark out with a little 'Dawn' dish detergent. I've had good luck with using it. (Just spot clean)
