and gave it to me today. i have been looking thru 3 yrs of designs and things i thought were lost forever were there. There is so much there I even forgot i had. I need to tear myself away and go to the bank, when I get back i can decide what to make first.

You are so right! Things happen to computers all the time and away goes everything unless you are diligent about backups. I do mine regularly (ME laptop and regular computer) and I also do my mother's to be sure she is protected too.

Glad your son was taking care of you!

Our kids are more amazing than we give them credit for. He must have known how much your designs met to you.

So glad you didn't loose them. I think most of us have lost yours at least once. I lost mine trying to make the back up.

I know better now, did'nt know the computer was on it's last legs. Of course it died when my machine was in the shop being repaired. But I'm good to go now.

I'll bet you were thrilled when you found out he had them for you! I need to update my flash drive and I need my son to burn my CD for me but he is in Japan right now. Wondering if I will see the wedding pics any time soon. I thought they would have them before they left for the honeymoon.

that is so great of your son, all those designs would hve been lost. my son bought me my external drive, full of surprises aren't they. I ws so glad when my computer decided to die, brought it to shop and they said they could take the drive out and retrieve info, and I just laughed and said no I have everything backed up already and didn't need anything off it. I also right disc for back up too. everything is in a few different places.

I have my designs on each of: my computer, cd's, my husband's laptop and 2 separate flash drives...I'm not losing all this work!

It's also an expense to lose all we've paid for and collected.

Yup--now you are paranoid like me. Make back ups on CD's, get an external hard drive and make periodic back ups there. I even spent the extra bucks to buy a solid state external drive because they don't have moving parts, so they are less apt to die, supposed to last 10 years. Hey, I may not last that long---

What a relief for you I am sure. I know how it must have felt to have them on a disk. Your son was so nice to do this for you. Give him a hug.

What a thoughtful act that was that your son backed up all your designs. I am so glad he did that for you. It would be devastating to lose all your designs. Hugs, Mary

I bought a 2GB USB Flash Drive to plug in to my computer and save my embroidery files on. I made several cds only to have my computer erase them. (I have a problem computer) I have heard that this happens a lot. USB DRIVES are much more reliable. I would strongly suggest making more than 1 copy if you have a problem computer too or go out and get yourself an USB Flash Drive. Good luck!
