I'm still struggling with these shingles and found out they have a vaccination for them. Not just a injection to help them clear up, but actual vaccine like they do with chicken pox. As soon as these clear up, I'm heading that way. This is my second bout with them and I'm tried of getting them! They are very painful and aggravating...This vaccine better work or I'll be very upset. LOL

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with the shingles! I know they are painful! I can't do much to help you with shingles except to keep you in my prayers and offer you a flower. *s

I hope so, I had another one under my breast area that came out last night, so maybe this is the last of them.

Sorry you are still stuggling with those awful shingles. I hope you get better fast, and that the vaccine works! Maybe we should all be getting it!

Thanks Nancy. It probably wouldn't hurt to have the vaccine. Kathyjt said they wouldn't give her one til she turned 60.

My Mom had shingles many years ago and it took the doc forever to figure out the rash around her waist! I know there is a vaccine, hope you can get it soon! The doc should have given it to you after the first bout you had. Feel better soon!

Thanks Deb, if I'd known a few years ago about the vaccine I would have taken it then. I've heard some say the insurance won't cover the vaccine. Hopefully I can get mine approved before I get it since I'm susceptible to them.

Prednisone was a helpful drug that my Mom took. It has been billed as a wonder drug. Your body makes prednisone naturally but a larger dose is helpful in managing inflammation, swelling and pain. You might ask your doctor if it is something that could help your case of shingles.

Prednisone is what brought the shingles to the top.:( I'm taking a viral med right now.

Yup--there's a vaccine, recommended that people over 60 get it. Also, there's a vaccine for pneumonia that us over 50's are supposed to get. Hope it gets better soon.
