I haven't done any of these yet, but I believe they are designs that you can use continuously to make a border design, because the end of the design is made to fit to the beginning of the design. You just place the design where you want the border to start, than lay the next one right next to it, and up against the first one that you stitched out, and continue. They are great for the hems of outfits, pillowcases, and such. You might want to measure and mark you project with a washable fabric marker or chalk to make sure they line up perfectly, especially when you are dealing with something that you want to border needs to be at the same height from the bottom or top of your project.

I think that muzicdiva gave you a pretty good idea. Endless embroidery is digitized in such a way that you can use an endless embroidery hoop, or hoop so that you can make a continuous design with register markings for aligning your design. Some desgins are made specifically for this. I am able to make endless embroidery through my software. When the first design is stitched it leaves marks so that you know where to place the next stitch out. I hope that we were able to help you some.

I think you have to have a special hoop to do these designs, at least that is what I have seen with some machines. My machine is not that sophisticated to have that special hoop available, so I have not tried it.

The designs differ from 'normal' designs by a few stitch points at the beginning and the end that help to get them perfectly placed. Marking your fabric is essential.

An 'endless hoop' is not necessary although it makes it easier to line up the repeats along a straight line. The downside of those hoops is you can not embroider too far away from the edge of the fabric. In that case I use my 'normal' hoop.

You got good answers and remember even you do not have endless hoop you could do it with your regular hoop, be very careful with placement, there are free videos how to in You tube and some embroidery sites sorry I do not remember the sites. I think emb. library has one.
