year or so, I have been thinking about writing to Ellen Degeneres to see if she can help them financially. I watch Ellen daily when I get home from work and see all the good things she does for people and how many she has helped. I can't think of anyone more deserving of help than Shirlene and Rick. She is always there to help anyone anyway she can.
I don't know them personally, only through this site. I live in Canada and keep buying lotto tickets in hopes of winning a big jackpot so I could help them.
What do you all think about us as a group writing a letter to Ellen and asking her if there is anyway she can help them?
There are some of you on this site, that have such a way with words, some of the posts bring tears to my eyes. I just thought that we could create a letter to Ellen and all sign it, then maybe it would get her attention and she would help.
Let me know what you think and lets come up with something to bring a little happiness and take some of their problems away.
If I am out of line on this, I am sorry, but I thought I would try and see what you all thought.
Its not Jerrilyn, but Jerri, altho my real name is Jerrill, funny huh.
Thank you
I could not get PM to work will try later. Talk to Twee she will know what to do.

Jerrill I think this is a wonderful Idea, and I can't think of anyone more deserving that Rick and Shirlene. I don't know the whole story except what she has posted here and no one should have to suffer as much as they. But with saying that, there are many out there who are going through the same thing, the difference it that Shirlene stays so positive and has a very strong faith which helps her each day. She has a mighty God who can do the impossible. We don't understand why things happen but we know He does. God uses many people to perform His miracles. Maybe this is one of the ways. I don't agree with Ellen's lifestyle, but she is a kind hearted person and very funny. She will put a smile on your face.:) Just let us know how and when... Not sure if this is a good suggestion or not, but what if someone types the letter then everyone send an e-mail titled, "Help Shirlene" so you would know it is our signature. then you could attach it to the petition letter and mail it into her staff, or get the e-mail and send it that way. She might be overwhelmed by the responses and that would pique her curiosity or interest. Maybe? I'm in...

We need someone to be the contact person.
I've known Shirlene since I've come on here and she and Rick are a very caring couple. I've never once heard her complain about things, she always has a very positive outlook and a great faith in our almighty God. And for someone just to make the effort of contacting Ellen would be awesome.
Thanks to Bev in Texas for the email address of Ellen Degeneres. If we could all get a copy of the letter and add our personal names and countries from where we come, well then all we'd have to do is email it to Ellen's email address.
Thanks so much Jerrill for getting this thing moving - it's just like "Pay it forward" .
Love and blessings Chris
Not sure what to do, so will ask for everyones help.
Dear Ellen,There is a website devoted to mostly machine embroidery, it is so large that we don't even know how many of us are on the site. It is www.CuteEmbroidery.com. Some of us have been with the site a short time, some a very long time and we all feel like a family. There is so much love and help from so many people there but we have one who has been an angel to us all and in dire need of help, her name is Shirlene Renshaw. Shirlene's mother was a member of this website almost from the beginning and gave Shirlene a love of embroidery also. This year has been especially hard on Shirlene, in Feb her dear mother, Loretta, passed away, shortly after that Shirlene's husband suffered a stroke. She has held it together and helped her husband as best as she can. Of course Rick lost his job and had not fully recovered, this week he suffered a seizure and was hospitalized and had a total of 6 seizures and a mini stroke before being released. Shirlene is by his side knowing he has a long road of more therapy ahead of him. She comes on the website when she can and gives us updates but never complains. She is Rick's rock. Her income is from a website www.loveoflace.com where she sells Free Standing Lace items that she has embroidered but business is very slow. Our group of "Cuties" is hoping that there is something you can do to help Shirlene because we know what a kind and giving person you are. This website has members from states all across the US plus members from many countries. We range from Canada, Australia, Germany, Iceland, Brazil, S. Africa and many more and all we are asking for is help for a "friend" most of us has never met but grown to love.
We could remove this section bringing it to 1582:

Thank you all for your help and support in this. I was afraid to start this, but after this week, and seeing everyones responses, I am glad I did.
If you are all in agreement with the letter, and you know how to send it to Ellen please do. I pray that Ellen finds in in her heart to help.
Jerri (Jerrill)
How are we going to add our names as that would be huge.....
sending is easy, cut and paste to the web page. Who will send it?

REMEMBER that Ellen likes to have the persons on her show to receive the help she is giving so someone from this site has to be ready to go to her show along with Shirlene, or in her place, and that person should be 'jerrib' as this was her idea.
Ellen will definately ask about the cute site and machine embroidery so a sample of FSL, that Shirlene does should be with Jerrib.
Let us know if you do make the letter here to be signed.
Some of you may not realise Shirlene also needs surgery but, (without her express permission) I cannot repeat what that surgery is. Suffice it to say, she REALLY, REALLY needs to have it before it causes irreparable (if not life threatening) damage to her body. Besides not being able to afford it, she can't spare the time away from caring for Rick. Then of course she also needs carpel tunnel surgery.
I truly don't know how they can cope with all the burdens being dumped on them lately, a lesser person would look for other ways out of all the problems.
I do hope you can get Ellen to do something for them.
Shirlene is the most warm and loving person she really could do with a change of fortune.

I brought Rick home on Tuesday night late - about 8 PM - he has been resting inbetween all the times I have had to get him up and taken him to here or there - to get his blood drawn or pick up new meds - a few groceries and such. When we get home - he always heads for the restroom and then to lay down - he is so weak - I had to steady him when we were putting on his pants today. He never complains or asks for anything out of the ordenary - he is a great patient, actually. He said something about are you sure you still want me for a husband? I laughed and told him - of coarse - any way that he was - was fine with me - at least I still had him.
Thanks for all that you are trying to do - to help us. We know you each care for us - it shows in all your post - that is such a miracle - we are blessed and we just want you to know - we appreciate it more than mere words can even suggest.
Unconditional Love, Shirlene & Rick
Blessings,
Sukiray
