I love to watch the birds. We have put out birdfeeders and the birds are now dicovering them. We keep a list of all the species that we can identify in every home that we live in. Fun to see the many different species.

My back garden has gulls sometimes and often red kites floating around high above. The hills have usually loads of sheep, very different to parrots and kookaburras

What is a dollar bird

Will check back later to see if you posted a picture. I live in the mountains in a forest and really enjoy the wild life that is here but excited to see your birds as we don't have those around here.

Oh Chris, do post pics! I love birds and we don't have anything like that here in New York state. We have a lot of birds but none like you have. We have robins, mourning doves, cardinals, chickadees, gold finches, house finches, purple finches and sometimes a gross beak and nut hatch but alas have never even seen a photo of a kooksburra. I won't even mention the crows, pidgeons and starlings! LOL When you get a moment, please post a photo, Thank you,

Kookaburra sits in the old gumtree, merry, merry king of the bush is he e. Laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra, gay your life must be. Can't quit singing it in my head Chris.
Isn't it amazing how things stay in your head, I must have been around 9 yrs. old when I learned that song & it is still there. Wish every day things stayed that long LOL

Don't often get king parrots in my backyard but the Lorikets that wake me every morning at about 5am as I have native trees, grevillas and bottlebrush in my yard and they come in for the blossoms.. lovely to see..thanks for the photos....Sally

i love your pics. So lucky to have the birds in your garden.We get plenty The ones I recog are swallows,(my home address is Swallow Place) wood-pekker, Hammerhead (he must be the same one always cos he is not too shy)And huge storks ,even our national bird the blue crane.Humming bird too
Wish I knew all the types better.

Oh Chris they are so lovely!
I have to share with you....
Today I was standing on my top veranda and I kept hearing this screeching so I started looking for where it was coming from, three magnificent black, sulphur crested cocaktoos were in the trees. I've never seen any birds as big as these, they were gigantic, so magnificent I was dumbstruck!

Worse luck I don't have my camera here and my phone camera wouldn't do them justice. I love it here and can't wait to live here permanently.

Hi Chris--just showed these pictures to my grandson and he wants to come to your house to feed them. I told him you live very, very far away. He said "that's OK, we can stop at Toys R Us on the way"

They must have given you a lot of entertainment watching them grow. Do they stay around all year round?

Wow, I'd like to see more of that gum tree. It looks like a beut. I too get lots of birds in my yard. The best treat was two white owls. My grandson and I tried to get a picture but they flew too quickly and all we got was blue sky. Nature is such a treat.

They are interesting birds to see, Chris; I don't think we have anything like them in the USA. It's grand that they return every year.
