cutting fabric with it for appliques? I have been wanting one for years - but, it is such an expense - but, he did such a great job of bidding that he got it for under $175.00 and free shipping. I am so excited!!!!

You lucky girl! Looks like your husband is like mine, no secret on your Christmas gift, lol. I am getting a blue topaz bracelet! Have several rings and a couple necklaces and pairs of earrings but never a bracelet!

You are in trouble! Talk about another addictive habit! I got mine this past spring and they are fun! There are tons of sites for designs. You can install SCAL software to your computer and hook computer to your machine. The software is about $25, but really fun, and you won't have to buy the cartridges. The forums are just like embroidery sites--lots of free designs. Do your goggle search for "svg files" or SCAL. There is even a site here that has free svg files--forgot the name but it's always in bookmarks. Check the SCAL site--lots of forum topics with designs for download. You will need to set up your folders just like embroidery. You can even import your own pictures. I just love, love, love it. Oh and don't forget YouTube--they have lots of video how-tos. Search "Cricket tutorials" or SCAL. The site below has lots of tutorials to get you started.

Thank you, Daisy! Yup, just what I need, another reason to avoid housework - hehehe. Thanks for the info. I know I have to make a decision between Make-the-Cut software and Sure Cuts a Lot - I am hoping to incorporate all of this into my embroidery (can you imagine never cutting an applique again? Can't wait! Thanks again for the info!! Laura*

How sweet! I have the cake decorating one and love it, but have heard you can cut material with it..I think you use the iron on for appliques before cutting out your patterns. Good luck and have lots of fun with it.

Hehehe, I just read my answer - no, you wouldn't want to cut material with the cake one!!!!

Do you actually have to wait for Christmas to start using it? We are awful around our house but DH will not budge to let us open until Christmas.
