Well Bev, you could use the old one as a back up. Or you could do more than 1 project at a time now.

Bev, I say keep it and use it to do other embroidery (FSL or small items). I wish I had another machine just for that... I could do so much more. hehehe...

Bev, it sounds like you wouldn't keep it to use or don't have the room for it - so trade it in - if you can get something out of it or sell it or better yet donate it to someone that could really use it.

I remember another CUTE family member that got their machine just that way - another gave it to her and it meant the world to her. *4U

I've kept my small brother that only does the 4x4 and multi position hoop because it is a little work horse.( and you get nothing for trade-in)
Then I have the Brother innovis 1500 which is such a fab Machine. It is way above my means and still after two years I can't believe that I considered such an expensive (toy/fun/hobby)machine.
I was doing a lot of dress-making and quilts before this.So I think it has thrown me off track and caused a waste of time and confusion.(lack of space)
I spend days (+here)with new designs and hardly any productive sewing,although they are all pretty and dollied-up. Most of the time the items are just for frilly things and i needed to do more practical items.I often wish it was like before,
So if you are up-grading make sure it will really benefit you and not get talked into it by sales talk which was my problem in the first place.

I have 2 machines now, was going to trade my old one, only they offer nothing so then I had a thought if my good one is in the shop even for a service, at least I can still get the urgent orders done...Hugs Sally

I traded my old one in and wish I had kept it as a back up.

Keep it and it would be there as a back up or to be loaned to my younger daughter or her friend. I was given my machine so to sell it would not be right. It was a gift from my friend as we have known each other for 40 plus years

I kept mine. I now have a Viking Designer I and a Janome 10000. and most of the time I am using both of them for embroidery. I spend my time changing threads!! I was going to sell one and had it advertised. It did not sell so I decided to use it and now have decided I will keep them both.

I usually trade them in. I had a couple that I bought and kept the other because they wouldn't give me enough on a trade. One of those I sold myself to help pay for the new one. So, I would say that you need to decide if you get enough for you old to make it worthwhile or afforable.

I'd save it as a back up if possible. You never know when you might need it as things can go wrong even with a new machine and I'd still be able to stitch if the new one ended up in the shop.

Well.... I said I would sell my other one, but I now have them both set up side by side and use both all the time :)

Keep it then you won't be in the position I'm in. My motherboard blew up on my machine and it will be 3-4 weeks to get it back.
If I had another machine I could at least so the material part of my quilts.

I traded my Janome 9500 in for the 11000. My dealer offered me a deal I could not refuse. I had the 9500 for four years and he gave me such an awesome trade-in on it. I figured he was happy, I was happy.Since I have a serger and sewing machine, it worked for me. Carol

I think we all have been in this situation at least once. I always keep one machine as a back up plus I use it to sew on. I always buy the embroidery machine that sews also. When it becomes your back up then you use it to sew. I did however have a Bernina that I could not part with and gave to my daughter and I sew on it at her home, if I could just get her to be comfortable with it. I can do alterations at her home without bringing things home. Has really come in handy. I guess if you have several children , you could have one at each home. Ha, Ha.

It will depend on how much they will give me for mine. If I don't think it is enough I will keep as a backup (even though I don't have a place to store it), if enough, I will probably trade it in.
