Water Soluable Stabilizer - it dissolves in water. Yes, like Solvy which is a brand of WSS, like Kleenex is a brand of tissue. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

I am not sure what those brands are but I use washaway for making free standing lace, which I thought was WSS. and super sol for putting on top of towels to stop the stitches from sinking into the pile. Washaway has an opaque fibre look, and Super sol looks more like plastic. So there are different kinds of water soluble stabilizer for different jobs. I hope this helps. I just need to load photoshop on my pc and I will come back with photos.

Solvy (and ultra solvy/super solvy) are types of wash-away stabilizer (aka water soluble stabilizer WSS) - they look like a plastic wrap. There is also a wash-away that looks like a white mesh fabric - its technical name is Vilene but is marketed under names like Wet & Gone, Wash & Gone, etc. The first is used as a topper lots of times the last is used for FSL and in the hoop projects, etc.

here are the photos
Washaway is the first one, it can be used for creating free standing lace, use two layers it will dissolve in warm water, it leaves a starch like feel if it is just rinsed which gives it that stiff feeling, you can wash more of it out to make a softer lace.
Super sol is the second picture. some people hoop it with the item, but I just float it on top, it goes on top of towels or anything with a pile to stop the stitches from disappearing into the pile. I have been inspired to right a blog post about stabilizer now.

Not a problem, knowledge is only fun when you share it.
