Does your town have a senior citizens center? They could point you in the right direction I would think.

contact the thrift shops I use those and get sheets and things for quilting sometimes they will give you things that has a reason it won't sell. if you tell church groups what you want to do they usually have people that want to donate material. maybe run an add in local paper that you need material for this project

You may contact the Hospice group in your area - they do have shops for resale items, and may be able to assist you if you arrange to have the items benefit Hospice. There is a local group here that take the items of clothing from participants and make teddy bears for the loved ones. Once I retire, I believe that I will be assisting them in this. Hospice worked with both my MIL and my mother.

Thrift shops are a great source, also used clothing stores sell of season clothes at a great price. Watch garage sales, estate sales. I even left my name at all the local sewing machine stores. Sometimes someone has left a HUGE fabric stash especially if a family member has passed who sewed.

You've been given some good suggestions, also the free newspapers like the pennysaver. Place an ad asking for donations. Also, contact the recreation superviser of the nursing home. They may have leads for you. Ask them the best size to make so they do not get caught in the wheelchairs. Hope this helps.

I would ask the retirement home to put a notice up, there may be family of the senior citizens that can help you out.

You might also try a Freecycle group in your area. I have seen fabric given away on there quite a few times. You can post a request for what you want and give some details. Mention what you want the fabric for so people have an idea what you need and that it is for the benefit of the seniors.
