Wow Gerry - that looks a fair sized municipality. I just looked it up on Google.

Where I live it's classed as the Hunter (in total) but I actually live in the Lake Macquarie area.

I see there are 12 municipalities in Drenthe with about 490,000 people living there.

We have about 600,000 in our region. That includes Newcastle City of 160,000 - Lake Macquarie where I live 180,000 and the rest is made up of the inland councils.

"Newcastle's metropolitan area is the second most populated area in the Australian state of New South Wales and includes most of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Local Government Areas. It is the hub of the Greater Newcastle area which includes most parts of the Local Government Areas of City of Newcastle, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Cessnock, City of Maitland and Port Stephens Council.

We are situated 162 kilometres (101 mi) NNE of Sydney, at the mouth of the Hunter River, it is the predominant city within the Hunter Region. We are famous for coal and Newcastle is presently the largest coal exporting harbour in the world, exporting over 97 Mt of coal in 2009–10 with plans to expand annual capacity to 180 Mt by 2013."

I just copied this about our area - it's fascinating learning all about people on the other side of the world too.

Love Chris

Hi Gerry,

I'll add a picture of my area. Where the word BELMONT is if you look above that two suburbs you can see Belmont North then above that Jewells and that is where I live. As you can see I am only 6 minutes from the beach at Redhead. A beautiful beach as is much of the coastline in Newcastle. I work in Belmont, so it's only a 7 minute car trip! Lucky me!

Love Chris

in the 50s and raining in Ohio, odd. Wanted to get outdoor Christmas deco up yesterday but felt too dizzy to be on the ladder. Hope I get one nice day without rain quickly here so I can get it done!

Lovely! Living just on the other side of the North sea (Norfolk) We also have the snow ice wind and freezing temperatures. Should be used to it as I am Dutch but can't wait to escape to warmer climates.
