Does anyone have a time management strategy that keeps a limit on how long you spend on cute, and not getting on with what you should be doing? lol.

WHY ???
I really like the way you think!!!!
WHY?? because I did go to the gym for an hour before I did my grocery shopping and now I feel great. All I had to do was turn the computer off. hehehe.

Hehehe! I have had to push myself to start my project - before I come to CUTE - in so doing - I always get more done. I even leave to change my thread now. But if you must - set a timer - with the limit that you will allow yourself and then walk away from the computer. Hehehe!

A timer is a good idea, but as so much of what I do is on the computer I keep coming back to cute and get completely distracted.

well - I undertand being distracted - I am that way most of the time - any more - but having a timer by the PC - might work - if you set it - each time you sat down - you might be amazed - it could help. Knowing me - I would forget what it was there for.

This is a cute question! I don't know the answer cause I have the same problem too. Computer time plus all the other things that have to be done and keeps me from stitching!!

I don't think you have your priorities right, it should be cute stitch then other things. hehehe.
Hehehehe... you are right! What am I thinking!!!!*

Unlimited cute time, everything else will get done in its own time. Seems like I can't even get the embroidery up and running till evening. But first place I am in the morning is 1) check email 2) check Twitter for a message from my DIL 3) check in on cute after clicking on it through Top embroidery. Then I check facebook and email again and back to cute.

That sounds just like me. lol.

One thing that I have learned from my dad. It will still be there when you get ready for it. Have fun while you can. Devon

This is true Devon,it is just that other things can pile on top of it.

I log on several times a day to go through the blogs. I spend the least amount of time on the freebies. To be honest I check that last and sometimes leave it for a day or 2. I make sure I give out lots of flowers though.

Flowers are good Karen, sometimes I answer a question and forget then I have to go back and give flowers to everyone, I don't look at freebies at all. I never download them. I just like to catch up and chat.

I live three states away from my sister , my best friend . My kids are all married and my husband is retired . If I didnt get on here and read what you all get to do I would have NO ONE to be in touch with . I thank my cute family for sharing

I am glad you have the Cute family then, I do know what you mean, I live in a house full of men and I really appreciate my friends on cute. They get me way better than my men folk do. hehehe.
Just about everyone lives pretty far from me so I see no one but my retired hubby all day, cute keeps me in the swing of communicating with actual people!

Time Management ?? Are you kidding Alice - Who manages their time when you get to retirement age, not me that is for sure...LOL ... I spend as long as I like doing whatever I like and I must admit Cute takes up a great percentage of that time and I love every minute...Enjoy every minute of every day...Hugs Alice x0x0x0x

I am not at retirement age yet, I am likely to face a forced early retirement due to illness in the near future, But I do have a home business I am supposed to be running. So I need to manage time in that regard.

I check the computer every now and then for messages and stop by cute. If I stay on too long my eyes fatigue and a headache might start looking into the screen. I'm getting everything done and even still going for my daily walk (the recommended 10,000 steps a day is equal to 5 miles only I walk two miles and peddle a stationary bike for the rest a few times a week and when bad weather.) After loading up our Jeeps three times to donate clutter I'm still working at getting rid of stuff (my daily thing is to pick 5 things up and put away or throw away.) My daughter says I'm fidgety and can't even sit through a whole TV show or movie (I record everything and watch in fast forward through commercials and credits and that saves time in front of the TV.) If your not being social away from the home then that is prpbably too much computer time.

I must admit, I don't get out much, but I have started back at the gym and I do get to Church every week.

Interesting question. I envy those who are retired. I have not reached that age yet but getting closer. I don't get near enough time as I would like. I need to get projects done so they have to come first. That means I am very busy now with christmas projects. I am in School Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:00. Every Wednesday is Choir from 7pm-9pm. Third Tuesday of every month is Liturgy meetings. Every Sunday is Sunday school classes with the 6-12th graders. So as you can see I burn the midnight oil sometimes to get projects done. But I love what I do and that is what is important. The dust bunnies are growing well in my home.LOL

Alice most of the time when I am on cute I am embroidering. CP & machine are side by side & I do not leave my machine when it's in use. I stay near enough to listen to every sound it makes. I do not have time to stay on cute for hours but try to keep up with personals & prayer requests & look for any help that might be needed.

I just have trouble getting off once I am here, there is always something new to read and people to chat to.

WHAT???? is there such a thing? hehehe.... I actually keep my computer on from morning until I go to bed. I have my list of things that need to be done, and in between them I check on Cute along with a couple other website's like my ETSY and personal website. I also design and upkeep our church website. But cute keeps me the busiest. I don't really check too much on the freebies, but do on the personals, and post. I also spend time at YOU. Hugs, T

Terre, I can't really get YOU, I went on there when cute was down for that day or so. But I find Cute so much easier.

Definitely more on Cute than doing what supposed to - no wonder the pots get burnt! Trying to get the food done while on Cute. Have to change the way I cook. You can get those three tier pots and each tier has a diff item, the whole lot ontothe stove and left to cook for about 45min.

Before I walk each morning, I turn on the computer - straight to Cute. I just love reading all the news that all the Cuties on the other side of the world have left overnight. It is just as if the Christmas elves have been and left goodies in the night. My computer is on all day so I check up on Cuties several times in the day. As I have said before it is soooo addictive!!!!

Try your timer.
Settle on the job you have to do for one timer period and after that spend the same time with fun. This gets a lot done in the house and you have fun aswell. My timer is set between 15 min an 30 min depending on the do to list. And do not cheat on either time ;-))
Not my idea - check out flylady.com a lot of good managing tips there. Filter what you need.

I am a list person! I always make lists with the things I have to do. When I have finished my list I will do all those things I much rather would be doing all the time!
