Dawn, I never heard of them before - but I don't get to the local store or any store much for that matter these days. I watched the video and was amazed that the needle can cut the stabilizer and fabric away - wow *4U

Good question. I just heard about these and haven't seen them yet.

I bought them 10 days ago together with the Ruby that came with several specially digitised designs. Mine are by Inspira. They cost a fortune (€48) for 4 needles. They work a treat.

There are 4 different needles, the cutting edges are set at different angles: from left to right; back to front; and 2 diagonals at cross angles. That means you have to change needles for various contours.

I have yet to alter the butterflies I digitised so I can use the needles with those.

I just purchased these the other day and haven't had a chance to use them..There are 4 in a package they cut north, south, east and west..They look like little chisels (wood working tools)

I just learned about them yesterday, they are too expensive for my pocket.

I would love to have the set but didn't buy them yet. I hope they come out with discout coupon someday for me to use. They were about $45.00 here for the set of 4 and some other items of which I forget what they were. So they remain on my wish list!

I watched the video and for that amount of money....I will continue to use my nifty double curved Gingher embroidery scissors.....he cut away too much for it to be that easy and if you have to have a separate needle to cut in each direction, then it is going to take a lot of time.....changing threads is bad enough, but thread and needles to cut, then sew a seam.....I think not.......at least not now....maybe when I am too old to hold a steady hand..........

I have had a set for a couple of months. I bought them when Husqvarna-Viking came out with the new 5D software. I had the 4-D and wanted the up grade. The needles looked like they would be really neat and the store was doing a huge sale to buy the new stuff the day of the demo. Like 40% off of everything that was purchased that day.Sorry to say I haven't used mine. The main reason has been my time to play.

The other reason is they came with 3 digitized designs and although they are nice designs I haven't found anything I want to use the designs on. The dealer told the demo group that as of yet we can't digitize our own design because it take so many many more stitches to cut the fabric and they are so very tiny, and you have to cut first one way then the other. I keep hoping they will come out with more designs. Maybe after Christmas they will come out with more designs and maybe I will find more time or make more time. But any way I have a set. Hugs! Mary

Just judging for myself they wouldn't work, because I would forget to change to the cutting needles and back to the embroidery needles and ruin the project, lol!!! But then that's just me. I don't find it difficult at all to cut out the sections with a small curved scissors, and I really think I can almost do that faster than change a needle.

I hadn't heard of them before...how interesting!

As requested I posted a project I did with the cutwork needles. I used felt and found theresult in this case less than satisfactory, have a look.

Seems like a lot of money for something I can do quite well with curved scissors. I'd rather buy more thread, designs and fabric! LOL.

So Dawn - with this info - what did you decide - is it worth the purchase?
