I've had no alternative but to restore to default settings and in the process had to reformat the hard drive and have lost everything. Luckily I've made backups of my embroidery designs but have lost my history e-mails (which I never delete), a few downloads which I have not yet passed onto my backups and a few photo's - most of the photo's I can actually get hold of by asking for certain disks again. Problem is the reloading as to what I was used to. At least I can start with a clean slate.

Ouch, but it sounds like you have things under control and are looking on the bright side.

My husband felt bad as he gave me the new software. After now reinstalling everything the problem seemed to be that the new operating system I had to load to make the program work was incompatible with the microsoft side. It took me quite a few hours but evrything has worked out.

When my computer crashed the only things that were not effected were the emails.

Wish I could say that - just don't like if my organizing is not as planned.

I am up in running again. Have reinstalled the latest version of most of the programs and need to get to know them today. Found most of my older pictures not too much lost there. Have lost e-mails but that info is available somewhere and about a week of downloads from sites such as Amazing etc. I've have learned so much in the process. I work on a Macbook and have a virtual machine with my microsoft operating system on it which I access via an icon. Was quite a battle to get that loaded and set up and all my embroidery programs to work again. So from now on I will make a full backup on my time machine.

Lucky you - I play techie myself. Sometimes it is bad if you know a little because it becomes a big mess.
