Some of the free designs I have downloaded have rar at the end. What machine format are they. Does any of you cuties know?

It is not a machine format. It is similar to having .zip at the end of a file where multiple files are compressed (zipped) into it. You would have to "open" the .rar file to see what is inside it (all the formats). Hope this helps.

I use 7zip, the dl is on the same cnet page. It did not take over anything, just added. I highlight a rar file, right click the mouse, and choose 7zip, there's a menu that comes up with choices. I choose-extract here. They files pop up in the window, and I delete what I don't want, plus the rar. Very easy.
