This was three table mats saved from the bin and a length of webbing that had tied up something I bought some time ago (forgotten what!) The tree design is currently in the Urban Threads sale. The table mats are corded cotton and are rather thick to sew so the binding isn't perfect in places, but I'm quite pleased with the finished product.

Did you have any problems with the embroidery ? I have 8 of these type napkins waiting for 'something' to be done on them. Any advice will be gratefully received. TIA

I did think I might have problems as the mats are thick (and thin!) However they are cotton and quite soft so the embroidery went well. I don't think a dense satin stitch design would work very well. I actually stitched the pocket on the mat which had a few marks on it so it was no loss if it had gone pear shaped!

Thank you - mine are a charity shop purchase, 4 new, 4 used. Haven't given much thought about designs yet, but the advice about density is welcome.

Stitching them together was fairly easy, but only in straight lines! Wouldn't like to try anything fancy.
